Sitting on your sofa while in your pyjamas, doing your washing during downtime, being able to get some housework out of the way as soon as the working day ends \u2013 what\u2019s not to love?<\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">However, for some, working from home is not an option they would choose were they given the opportunity. Many would not like the idea of being alone for too long, others will admit that they are likely to get distracted if they are not in a place designed for work, while others will find their levels of productivity slipping if they are not surrounded by colleagues.<\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">So, with that in mind, let\u2019s take a closer look at what working from home \u2013 which has become a sudden reality for so many in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis \u2013 means for your employees.<\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-contrast=\"none\">Wellbeing when working from home<\/span><\/strong><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Research has<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">quite comprehensively, found that company-wide productivity is liable to increase when employees are given the opportunity to work from home<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, with almost<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> 85<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">% <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">of business report<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> this to be the case.<\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Not only that, but 80<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">%<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> of employees have said they would actively turn down a role if remote working was not an option. And <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">it would seem that these<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> people are saying this with very good reason.<\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">A<\/span><span><a href=\"https:\/\/amerisleep.com\/blog\/remote-workers-and-rest\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> recent study<\/a><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amerisleep.com\/blog\/remote-workers-and-rest\/\">\u00a0<\/a><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">concluded that remote workers are 57<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">% <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">more likely to declare themselves satisfied with their work when compared to people who are confined to an office, while <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">40%<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> say they are \u2018rarely\u2019 or \u2018never\u2019 stressed during their workday. When you consider that 29<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">%<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> of employees in the UK admit they are either \u2018always\u2019 or \u2018mostly\u2019 stressed when at work, this is a very significant improvement in mental wellbeing.<\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/span><strong><span data-contrast=\"none\">How employers can help<\/span><\/strong><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">There are some very simple things that employers can do to ensure their employees are able to work effectively during this period of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">self-isolation.<\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">1. Give them access to the right software, and ensure they can utilise it efficiently<\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">2. Organise regular calls\/video conferences to keep routine<\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">3. Ensure that all employees are kept aware of any updates or company changes<\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">4. Ask your employees how they\u2019re feeling, and if there\u2019s anything you can do to help, do it<\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span>\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Of course, there are also simply measures you can take, such as ensuring that every employee is aware that they can contact you if they are feeling stressed or have questions, or making them aware that if they have family commitments or struggles &#8211; which are very likely during the current climate &#8211; that they are able to take time away from their laptops to sort things out.
